How did Aconcagua Star come about?

Aconcagua Star is a small family company founded by two renowned mountain guides, Arkaitz Ibarra Martinez and Pablo Gasparini.

After many years, almost a lifetime, of experience and climbs in the Andes, we decided to organize expeditions on our own, avoiding intermediaries and being able to implement our philosophy of the mountains and what it means to be a guide.

Our motto is to make every possible effort to reach the summit, always following the relevant safety concepts, and to enjoy the great moments that are experienced day by day on the mountain.

We understand how challenging it is for people to decide to come for almost a month to climb Aconcagua, in all aspects, and that’s why we put all our energy into achieving it, sometimes extending the days to reach the highest point.

We have a limited staff of guides, as the company also limits the number of expeditions per season.

The guides combine a mix of youth and extensive experience, not only in the Andes but also in other mountain ranges around the world, including some eight-thousanders. They are all close friends and have shared various commercial and personal expeditions together. They are deeply dedicated to the mountains and training, not only to work as certified guides but also for their personal projects. Some notable achievements include first winter ascents above 6500 meters, eight-thousanders, speed records on Cerro Plata (6010 meters) and Cerro Mercedario (6701 meters), self-sufficient traverses of multiple six-thousanders for more than 10 days, and more. It’s a team that lives for and in the mountains.

The team has a wealth of experience and enthusiasm. As they are all friends who love what they do, the atmosphere generated during the expeditions is very pleasant, enjoyable, and motivating.
